The first four authors appearing next year have just been announced as: Colm Toibin, whose novel Brooklyn was recently adapted for the screen; Dame Margaret Drabble; Lesley Hazleton, and Amish Tripathi, who wrote India’s fastest-selling book series.

The 2016 Fairway Galle Literary Festival (FGLF) hosted 83 participants, both local and from around the world who took part in 102 events in Kandy, Galle and Jaffna.

Galle Literary Festival 2017 promises to be just as impressive – if not more so – than GFL 2016, the line up for which included internationally acclaimed authors, award winning stage and screen actors, Pulitzer prize-winning poets, world renowned architects and explorers, historians, performance troupes, choirs, photographers, artists and Michelin star chefs.

Some of the famous names from last year were: world-renowned author Sebastian Folks; teen-fiction writer Meg Rosoff; Gregory Pardlo (poet); Anuradha Roy, award-winning Indian novelist; Fiona Shaw (actress); Ariyawansa Ranaweera, a prolific poet, and Shehan Karunatilaka, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous authors.

The rest of the line up for GLF 2017 will gradually be released during the rest of this year – keep your eyes on the website for all of the exciting updates:
