Centara to Open Two Hotels in Sri Lanka

Centara Hotels and Resorts, a leading Thai hotel chain is to open two 4-star properties in Sri Lanka.

The 126 room Centara Pasikudah Resort and Spa, and the 166 room Centara  Ceysands Resort in Bentota are set to be completed for high season this year.

Pasikudah has one of the most exotic beaches on Sri Lanka’s east coast, and it is possible to walk up to 50 yards into the sea. Waves are almost non-existent, making the sea look more like a lagoon.

Pakiikudah and nearby Kalkudah are two largely undiscovered towns with white-sand bays and crystal-clear water. There are potentially excellent diving and snorkelling opportunities here as the visibility underwater is incomparable to anywhere in the island.

In contrast to Pasikudah’s long stretches of pristine shallow coastline, which are attracting rising interest now that peace has returned to Sri Lanka, the wide beaches of Bentota have long been known as one of the finest options for a family holiday on the long-established west coast.

Centara however is not the only Thai company seeking to take advantage of Sri Lanka’s tourist boom.

Minor Group, also Thai company, in joint venture with Serendib Leisure has tapped into the Western coast of Kalutara with two properties – the recently opened 105 room Avani Kalutara and the 138-room Amantara Kalutura which is scheduled for April 2013.
